Inglesina Quid Stroller Review

We purchased and tested 20 lightweight strollers including the Ingelsina Quid and compared them in more than 100 tests and measurements. The Quid compares favorably to other lightweight strollers in weight, folded size, quality, and maneuverability. It comes up short in folding because it requires two hands to fold, and it lacks some important ease-of-use and kid-comfort features.

How it Compares

The Quid is a very functional lightweight stroller and will make a good backup to your full-featured everyday stroller. We did not award it with a recommendation based on its overall score but it also doesn’t have any big negatives.

Inglesina also sells the heavier and higher-priced Electa Stroller, which is full-sized, full-featured and infant car seat compatible.

The Downsides

There is much to like about the Quid but there are a few complaints. We’ve summarized them in order of frequency and responded to each complaint from our own experience.

CriticismOur Experience
Small storage basketNo rain cover is included despite being mentioned in the description
Difficult to fold initially or requires two hands to foldIt does require two hands to fold because levers on both handles must be pulled at the same time. However, it folds in 3 seconds and opens in 2 with little difficulty.
Handlebar height not adjustableTrue. It is fixed at a 39 inch height which is common among the strollers we tested.
Seat cover is not removable for washingThe current listings on the Inglesina website and Amazon say that the rain cover is optional and a separate purchase.
Sunshade rubs against fingers when not openAgreed. The canopy rubs on your fingers when your hands are wrapped around the handle, but really only when you are pushing the middle of the handle.
Lack of lock function when collapsedYes! The stroller doesn’t stay folded consistently when collapsed.
Stroller doesn’t stand upright when collapsedTrue.
The instruction manual is confusing and outdatedTrue, and there are some cracks where crumbs can lodge.
Instruction manual is confusing and outdatedAgreed. We gave the manual 6 out of 10 stars.
No child tray or cup holdersTrue, but very few lightweight or umbrella strollers have kid cup holders or snack trays.
Doesn’t feel much lighter than a full-size strollerAt 13 pounds it is quite light even compared to other lightweight strollers.
Not as smooth with tight turns and maneuveringIn our steering tests, we found it to turn very responsively.

Testing and Research

We selected 20 strollers to test and compare that were 20 pounds or less, had consistently positive customer reviews, and had no known disqualifying safety issues. We purchased those strollers and took them through 100 tests and measurements. We involved multiple parents and children to gather diverse feedback.

Weight and Folded Size

The Inglesina Quid is a tri-fold lightweight stroller and is among the lightest we tested. It is also compact when folded with folded dimensions of 22 x 19 x 8 inches. It may be accepted by some airlines as a carry-on but doesn’t quite meet the typical 22 x 14 x 9 inch size requirement of most domestic US airlines.

It makes a nice secondary travel stroller nevertheless.

It did not do as well on rough sidewalks and off-road. The wheels tend to turn sideways and get stuck in cracks.

You can see that the spring suspension on the front wheels doesn’t help.

Ease of Use

Like most small strollers the Quid doesn’t have much storage space. The basket is 0.56 cubic feet and you have to bend way down to get to it. The opening is only 12 x 6 inches. We were able to get a lightly filled backpack in the basket far enough that it wouldn’t fall out.

There are no other compartments or pockets for storage. There are also no parent cup holders!

The storage basket has a recommended weight limit of 7 pounds which is lower than most other strollers in the group.

We love the parking brake on this stroller. One pedal operates both rear wheels and it easily toggles between stopped and released. You can use the bottom of your foot to both set and release the brake so it is painless with bare or sandalled feet.

ingelisna quid's single rear brake pedal

We also like the peekaboo window that allows you to see your little one through the canopy. We don’t like the velcro attachment of the window because the velcro is noisy when you open the window and can wake up your toddler.

The seat reclines and it can be reclined with one hand by squeezing the button and pulling but requires two hands to raise back up. It is an “infinite” recline meaning you can pull it down to any recline level.

The handlebar is covered with sturdy feeling foam. The frame feels reasonably stable when pushing and maneuvering. The handle is non-adjustable and fixed at 39 inches high which may be low for taller parents.

The user manual has mostly black-and-white illustrations with a limited amount of text separated from the diagrams making it hard to follow. But despite the manual, it took only 4 minutes to unbox and set up the stroller because it came almost fully assembled.

The harness clips are made to slide together and snap into the buckle. The two clips don’t always stay together after you use them for a while so buckling can take extra time.

buckling the harness straps on the inglesina quid

The 5-point harness straps are smooth which makes them a little bit easier to adjust with the sliding clips. To adjust shoulder strap height you rethread the straps through the cross straps on the top of the seat.

The bumper bar included with the stroller is fairly easy to use after you’ve done it a couple of times.

The Quid does not support infant car seat adapters.

Folding and Transport

Our “How to fold the Inglesina Quid” video:

Although the Quid is a two-hand fold stroller, in our video above we are folding it while holding a baby doll. It requires two hands because you have to press down levers on both sides of the handlebar at the time to get it to fold. It can be opened with a single hand.

The good news is that it is easy to open and fold. It takes 3 seconds on average to fold and only 2 seconds to open.

the quid laying down folded

Unfortunately, the stroller does not stand when folded. If you leave the bumper bar attached when it is folded, you can pull it by the bar and roll it on the rear wheels.

pulling the folded quid by the bumper bar

It is 2.5 cubic feet when folded (see table under Weight / Folded Size near the top of the article). This gives it a rank of 8th out of the 20 strollers we tested. Its folded dimensions are 22 x 19 x 8 inches which makes it a bit too big for most airline overhead compartments, but you may be able to get away with it anyway.

Kid Comfort

We performed vibration and bumpiness testing over a consistent course using a device to capture motion readings. The Quid ranks in the lower third of these strollers for Smoothness of Ride:

The seat padding is thin and when the adjustable leg rest is in the down position, the board inside the rest forms a sharp edge where the seat bends down.

seat of the inglesina quid

The shoulder harnesses have soft padding with the seams correctly turned outwards away from the neck. The crotch strap is also protected with a padded backing.

Although the manufacturer rates this seat for children up to 50 pounds or 41 inches, the seat back height is only 17 inches. The seat depth is 9 inches. Taller kids will probably bump their heads on the canopy fabric at the top of the seat.

The seat is at 67 degrees when fully upright which is perfect. Fully reclined it goes back to 27 degrees which is decent. At full recline and with the leg rest extended it makes a comfortable napping surface.

the quid fully reclined with the leg rest raised

The canopy reaches forward to above the knees when it is fully extended. This is less sun protection than the average stroller in the group.

extended canopy of the quid

There is a zipper that allows the canopy to be opened up and extended further. The canopy is fully extended in the image above.

Unfortunately, there are no snack trays or kid cup holders included.

The included bumper bar is covered with faux leather which makes for a smooth surface and stylish appearance. The stroller can be folded without removing the bumper bar.

The canopy fabric will roll-up to provide extra ventilation for the seat, which is helpful especially when the seat is fully reclined.

Quality and Safety

We performed two kinds of tip-over testing. The Inglesina Quid is one of the few strollers in our test that did not tip over with a 12-pound bag hung from the handlebar. Hanging heavy objects from stroller handles is not recommended but we tested it anyway.

In our sideways tip-over test the Quid was in the middle of the pack with about half the strollers tested being more likely to tip over sideways. (Higher numbers indicate more force required to tip):

Pinching is another safety risk with strollers. We found comparably few pinch points on the Quid though it is always wise to keep children away from strollers when they are being opened and closed.

The basket has stripes on each side made of reflective material for added safety at night.

The EVA-foam-filled wheels can be cut and gouged relatively easily. This gouge appeared after our rough-terrain test.

inglesina quid showing gouge in tire treat foam

The front wheels have noticeable spring suspension. We could not detect any rear suspension in the frame or wheels.

The fabric, parts, and materials of the Quid are high-quality. The folding mechanism and brakes operate reliably. The only exception we’ve seen is that sometimes the stroller locks closed and sometimes it doesn’t.

We measured the noise level of each stroller and found that the Quid had a higher Average Decibel Level:

Inglesina Quid vs Babyzen YoYo²

babyzen yoyo2 on left, inglesina quid on right
Babyzen YoYo2 on left, Ingelsina Quid on right

The Inglesina Quid and Babyzen YoYo² compete in the lightweight, compact stroller market. In our testing, they have similar strengths and weaknesses.

See our full review of the Babyzen YoYo².

The YoYo² is 0.6 pounds heavier than the Quid but it is 25% smaller in size when folded. The YoYo² can stand when folded, although a bit precariously, and can fit in an overhead bin more often than the Quid.

Both strollers performed well in maneuverability although the Quid had less tendency to veer.

Both strollers require two hands to fold. The Quid is much easier and faster to fold and unfold.

The YoYo² has better part quality in our view including the wheels, while the Quid performed better in our pinch testing. The YoYo² was quieter for us than the Quid.

Ride smoothness was similar for the two strollers but the YoYo² has a more comfortable seat.

Neither stroller has a large storage basket but the YoYo²’s basket is more accessible and the YoYo² has a small item pocket.

The YoYo² is quite a bit more expensive than the Quid. So unless you really need it to fit in an overhead compartment, the Quid is a better bang for the buck.
